Dennis Wines

In 1947 Egerton Dennis, after serving in the Royal Australian Air Force, settled on his present 40 hectare vineyard at McLaren Flat, giving birth to Dennis Wines in 1971. The family vineyard Nindethana is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The property is beautifully situated at McLaren Flat, at the base of the Southern Mount Lofty Range, where soil, climate and rainfall are ideal for grapes. The winery in the early seventies pioneered the production of mead, made from fermented honey, the oldest alcoholic beverage in recorded history. There is a National Trust monument commemorating early settlers and the first church in the region and picnic facilities.
