Ceiling roses, ornate cornices and a little wood fire glowing under the TV. Kandahar is a heritage styled two bedroom home in Colonel Light Gardens, one of Australia`s most complete 1920s garden suburbs and a State Heritage Area.
The living room is where you`ll end up most nights. The combustion fireplace sits under the TV with firewood ready to go, and there`s a dining table for four, plus books and games for slow evenings in. Netflix is set up on the TV too.
The front bedroom has a king that can be split into two king singles, so it suits couples, friends or a parent travelling with an older child. Let us know your preference before arrival. The second bedroom has a queen. Both have ceiling fans and good quality linen, and Daikin ducted heating and cooling runs through the whole house.
The kitchen has a Westinghouse oven with separate grill, a four burner cooktop, a Miele dishwasher and a Sunbeam espresso machine. The pantry is a share pantry: take what you need and leave something for the next guests if you can.
There`s one bathroom plus a second toilet in the laundry. The laundry has a Miele washing machine, iron and ironing board, and there`s a washing line outside.
Step out the front and you`re on wide, tree lined streets planned in the 1920s, with reserves, laneways and rows of Californian bungalows. The city centre is about 7km north.
Good to know: the fireplace has no guard, so little ones need close supervision. Please don`t light it on hot days or Total Fire Ban days.
